If your commercial or highrise building has an elevator, it’s critical that you have it inspected regularly. Dozens of people use your building’s elevators every day, making them a key component of the property. However, it’s not uncommon for them to malfunction or to trap a group of guests between floors. That’s why so many businesses turn to the team of inspection professionals at Titans Commercial. Here is what you can expect us to evaluate and inspect during our visit.
1. Component Checks
The components of your elevator go well outside the buttons and door sensors. During our inspection, you can expect us to look at things like:
- Lighting
- Flooring
- Smoke detectors
- Circuit breakers
- The machine room
- Fluids
- Cables
- Pulleys
- Fire extinguishers
It’s important that you or your office manager know where each of these components is located and can help show our inspectors their locations. This guidance will ensure that your inspection runs smoothly and efficiently.
2. Test Drive
During our elevator inspection, we’ll take several test drives on each elevator in your building. This part of the process can take the longest, as we check how your elevators function between each floor. We make sure it runs smoothly and effortlessly between stops, opens at the right locations, and closes safely. Furthermore, we test every button on your elevator to make sure it doesn’t cause any malfunctions. If any of these tests go wrong, it’s an indication that your elevator needs to be serviced right away.
3. Down Time
Because we’ll be testing your elevators, you, your guests, and your employees should expect them to be out of use for the duration of our visit. If you have more than one elevator, we will only shut one down at a time. To avoid any disruptions or accidental use during our visit, we ask that you inform your entire building that the elevator is not to be used until the inspection is complete. This will allow everyone to make the necessary accommodations to get to their floors.
